Friday the 13th Kills at the Box Office

15 February 2009 No Comment

One of the original slasher franchises got a huge reboot this weekend as “Friday the 13th” raked in an estimated $42.2 million. It’s the largest opening weekend for a pure horror film and the best debut of an R-rated flick since last year’s “Wanted”. According to BoxOfficeGuru.com, “Friday the 13th” was produced by Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes, for roughly $19 million. Imagine how crazy things are going to get when the company’s done with their re-launch of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. Here’s to hoping that Robert Englund reprises his classic role as Freddy Krueger.
