Kid CuDi vs. Reebok? [Update 2-16]

15 February 2009 No Comment

Industry Rule 5001: Unless you’re Willy Northpole, stay out of the Valley of the Sun. Arizona has not been the spot for rappers this past year, from DMX’s legal troubles to Kids in the Hall’s scuffles in Tempe. The latest hip-hop phenom to get caught up in AZ drama seems to be Cleveland native Kid CuDi, one of the newest rising stars on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label.

According to a post on Baller Status, CuDi found himself embroiled in a scrap with Reebok employees for refusing to wear the company’s shoes onstage during a Reebok NBA All-Star Weekend celebration, opting to wear a fresh pair of Jordans (made by bitter rival Nike). Police were called and the incident allegedly ended with CuDi being tasered by the cops and arrested.

We’ll have more on this as it develops. Keep your head up, CuDi!

UPDATE -

Kid CuDi apparently was tasered and handcuffed but he was not arrested following the incident. Here’s the account in his own words:

“I was tasered (sh*t hurt like a muthaf*cka), I was not arrested,”

“I left in my car service immediately after the incident took place. I didn’t put my hands on anyone…It wasn’t over me wearing Jordans; I arrived at the event in the most fugliest Reeboks ever, forcefully…For those who care I’m okay. I appreciate your concern…As far as what really happened, I know the truth and God knows the truth and my peoples who were there know the truth and thats all that matters.”

Well, all’s well that ends well.
