Wayne and Em finally unite in this Chris Robinson-directed clip. “Drop the World” is the third single from Lil Wayne’s “experimental” album, Rebirth, and is a vast improvement over what we’ve heard thus far. Although Wayne’s headed to jail in New York for the majority (if not all) of 2010, be sure that there are a number of videos in the can for his various projects (Rebirth, Young Money) as well as the numerous cameos the guy locks down each month.

The video has a scary, gutter vibe, depicting what could be the slums of either Em’s hometown Detroit or Wayne’s beloved New Orleans. It’s that common visual that gives a middle ground for the two MCs to do what they do best – retaliate at all haters (the World) through sharp, paranoid rhymes spit over an ice-cold soundscape. The clip is more than a little reminiscent of D12′s “Fight Music” video and its “Warriors” theme, replete with teen gangs navigating the city to wreak total and utter chaos. It’s still fascinating to watch things fall apart in an area that the video makes clear you wouldn’t even visit in broad daylight.
